Stardust is available as a native macOS desktop app with a bundled CLI for power users.

Install the Desktop App

Download Stardust

Visit stardust.computer/download and download the latest version for macOS.You’ll get a .dmg file for your Mac’s architecture (Apple Silicon or Intel).

Install the App

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag Stardust to your Applications folder
  3. Eject the disk image

Launch Stardust

Open Stardust from your Applications folder or Spotlight (Cmd + Space, type “Stardust”).
First Launch: macOS may ask you to confirm you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open to continue.

Create Your Account

Sign up with your email or continue with Google/GitHub. Your account syncs your tasks across devices.

The CLI (Optional)

The Stardust desktop app includes a powerful command-line interface for power users. The CLI is automatically available when you install the desktop app.

Keeping Updated

Stardust automatically checks for updates. When a new version is available:
  1. You’ll see a notification in the app
  2. Click Update Now to download and install
  3. Restart Stardust to complete the update
Stay Current: We ship improvements frequently. Enable automatic updates in Settings > General to always have the latest features.

Uninstalling

If you need to uninstall Stardust:
  1. Quit Stardust (Cmd + Q)
  2. Drag Stardust from Applications to Trash
  3. Empty Trash
Your tasks are stored in your Stardust account, not locally. Uninstalling the app won’t delete your data. You can reinstall anytime and sign in to restore your tasks.

Troubleshooting

macOS Security: If macOS blocks the app, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the Stardust message.
Make sure you’ve enabled CLI access (see above). If you installed manually, restart your terminal or run source ~/.zshrc.
Check your internet connection. Stardust requires a connection to sync tasks. Offline changes will sync when you’re back online.
